Attn Adair Park and West End Neighbors:
The dangerous and often blocked rail crossing between Whitehall and Murphy (the “Lee St crossing”) continues to hinder our ability to/from the West End MARTA station, keeps people from getting to work and school, and has resulted in multiple fatalities, including a tragic pedestrian death in recent weeks.
As part of the Transportation Committee, we’re holding a community forum on December 7th from 4pm to 6pm at Create ATL to plan and strategize immediate and infrastructure-based solutions (such as a pedestrian bridge).
Members of all communities/neighborhoods impacted by the rail/road crossing are invited to attend. We are also inviting other stakeholders, elected officials, and decision-makers.
Please feel free to share this invite with anyone interested. We look forward to discussing how we can make this crossing safer for everyone.
If you would like to see the Railroad Elimination Grant Program info from FY22, go here: https://railroads.dot.gov/…/railroad-crossing…
We expect the NOFO for FY24 to come out this month (December) and are planning to apply for funds for a pedestrian bridge or other infrastructure if all stakeholders agree.
