iSWAT Development Day on September 20th

Keep-It-Local-Logo-ConceptsAre you a resident of Adair Park, Capitol View, Capitol View Manor, Pittsburgh or one of the other surrounding neighborhoods? Then this day is for you! On September 20th, a variety of restaurateurs, developers, and entrepreneurs will tour southwest Atlanta. They will meet at 884 Murphy Ave at 9am and head out from there. The purpose of this bus tour is to welcome the visitors into our community, visit multiple sites, introduce them to residents and inspire them to invest their businesses in our iSWAT neighbor-hoods. They will be shown many areas that are prime for redevelopment.

From now until September 15th, please take the iSWAT survey to give your views on what you like and would like to see in SouthWest Atlanta.

Committed To Communities this Saturday

Derrick DuckworthAdair Park Today President Derrick Duckworth is hosting his 3rd Committed to Communities event this Saturday, March 26th from 10am to 1:30pm. Below is a note from Derrick. We hope you can make it out to support our Southwest Atlanta neighborhoods!

I am excited to announce our third quarterly Committed to Communities event and wanted to share the following press release with you. As we did in August and November, we will be showcasing homes for sale along the Atlanta BeltLine in southwest Atlanta neighborhoods. My goal as a resident of Adair Park and as a Realtor is to join together with other neighbors, Realtors, businesses, and more to help reclaim formerly vacant homes. How are we doing this? We are working with organizations that specialize in renovating homes and making them livable and affordable so that they can be occupied by owners instead of rented out by investors. We all understand the impact homeownership can have on a community, which is exactly why we’re committed to this event.Beltline Team Logo

Please visit our website at Committed to Communities and check out photos of our last events on The BeltLine Team’s facebook fan page! This event will take place next weekend on Saturday, March 26th from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. In conjunction with the open houses (you can see the list at www.CommittedToCommunities.com), we will have a neighborhood BBQ in Perkerson Park. Please join us – everyone is invited and encouraged to attend!

Adair Park Neighborhood Cleanup, Saturday, March 19th

Spring is in the air! And it’s time to do a little cleaning on our streets. We all see the trash in the streets, maybe occasionally we pick some up, but it can be a bit overwhelming at times. So, we are getting together as a neighborhood, with some outside help, to clean our streets! Spring 2010 Adair Park CleanupThis cleanup will cover the southside of Adair Park from Lexington Ave to Elbert St. The next one will cover the northside. We will meet in Adair Park I under the pavilion by 9am to get into groups and have a little breakfast. We will split up into teams, each one taking a street, and head out. This should wrap up by at least noon, where we will come back, turn in tools (provided by Atlanta ToolBank) and head home. This is such a great time to meet neighbors and hang out with those you know. Sure, picking up trash isn’t the most glamorous job and is hard work at times, but the joy in seeing clean streets plus the people you meet make it so worthwhile. Check out pictures from previous cleanups and park renovations here.

Please RSVP by emailing communications@adairpark.com or calling Chenee Joseph at 678-463-6315. We need to get a headcount. All you need to bring is gloves, sunscreen, bug spray, etc. We will provide breakfast, trash bags, tools and water.

Not to mention, since we cannot do a cleanup without a party, we are having a meet-n-greet from 2pm-5pm that same day! This gives everyone time to head home, grab a bite to eat, shower and come back. This will take place at 830 Brookline Street. Light refreshments will be provided. Even if you can’t make the cleanup, come visit with some neighbors at the meet-n-greet!
