Tour de SWAT – Pedaling Atlanta’s Past

Tour de SWATParticipants will bike through seven southwest Atlanta neighborhoods, visiting restored houses, renovations, city parks and other cultural attractions. There will be guided history lessons and refreshment stops along the way.

Riders will push off at 10am from Adair Park Two, located at the corner of Tift and Gillette Avenues. This meet up spot is a 2 minute bike ride from the West End MARTA station. From there, we will ride through Pittsburgh, Capitol View Manor, Capitol View, Oakland City, Westview, West End, and conclude the ride at Adair Park One, at the corner of Catherine Street and Lexington Avenue. The entire ride is approximately 13 miles.

The cost is $8 for advance registration, and $10 on the day of the event. Children 12 and under are free with paid adult, and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Georgia Natural Gas, Midtown Alliance, Novare Group and Eplanet/Ewaste are sponsoring an Earth Day event on Friday, April 26th from 8am to 2pm. They are hosting an electronics recycling push in the Biltmore Courtyard at 817 West Peachtree Street, Atlanta, GA 30308.

Summer Day Camp at the Kroc Center is almost here!

Summer Day Camp registration will begin Monday, April 22nd. Kiddie Camp, Arts & Recreation Camps, and Teen Scene Summer Workshop Series will cover ages 5-17 years. Free Tax Prep for Qualifying Families

The Center For Working Families, Inc.The Center for Working Families, a local non-profit organization, was featured on Fox 5 Atlanta news this morning for their free tax preparation service for qualifying families with an adjusted gross income under $57,000. Atlanta Antique Auction is this Friday!

If you have never been, this event is awesome, and within the borders of Adair Park just north of Ralph David Abernathy. If you are in the need for some furniture, art, knick-knacks or other types of antiques, check out the auction held the 2nd Friday of every month at 556 Tift Street. April’s auction is this Friday, April 12th at 6:30pm.

Food and drinks are provided, 15% buyer’s premium, APD officer on duty for parking and security, and lots of great items up for auction. This month’s auction website is here, and features pictures of some of the items up for sale. There are always quite a few Adair Park neighbors there and we always have a good time. This auction gets a lot of love from Adair Park!

Atlanta Beltline Meeting this Thursday, February 7

Atlanta City Councilmembers Joyce Shepherd, Carla Smith and Cleta Winslow are hosting a community meeting on “Implementing the Atlanta Beltline.”

This meeting will take place on Thursday, February 7th from 6:30-8:30pm in the Dennard Center at the Atlanta Metropolitan College, located at 1630 Metropolitan Parkway. They will discuss prioritization of projects and cover some next steps.

The Adair Park Today is meeting tonight, Tuesday February 5th, at 7pm at the Kroc Center, located at 967 Dewey Street. Friendsgiving this Sunday in Adair Park!

Crystal, Teague, Pedro and Erica are at it again with Friendsgiving! This awesome event will be this Sunday, November 11th starting about 1pm. Festivities start around 1 p.m. and we’ll eat around 3 p.m. Please bring a dish that can serve 12-15. It can be a childhood favorite or a new recipe. Please include in your response if you’re bringing an appetizer, side or dessert. BYOB and chairs.
