The weather is looking like it is going to be mighty fine this weekend! Take that opportunity and come to Adair Park I for some kickball on Sundasy, February 20th at 3pm. Last time we had people of all ages and skill levels, and had so much fun the score wasn’t even kept! There will be frisbee tossing, football throwing and ladder toss as well. Come down, enjoy the sunshine and have fun with your neighbors.
Check out pictures of last month’s fun in the park here. We hope to see you outside!
Have some things you need to get rid of? Want to see if you can get a little cash for it? Need some things around the house and don’t want to spend a lot of money or travel far for them? Then the Adair Park yard sale is just what the doctor ordered! A few Adair Park neighbors are working together to have a yard sale big enough to attract some people. This event will take place on Saturday, February 26th from 8am-12pm.
You can check out the ad on Craiglist here. If you are interested in selling your wares, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and to get put in touch with the right people spearheading this effort. Or, simply hop on over to the Adair Park Social Club on Facebook for full details if you are an Adair Park resident. We hope to see you there!
You may or may not know Chef Paul Luna, but he has been a presence in Atlanta restaurants for years. From his first opening with Luna Si to the popular Eclipse de Luna and Loca Luna, he has been introducing new dishes to a multitude of Atlanta diners for quite some time. In 2010 he opened Lunacy Black Market on Mitchell Street to rave reviews.
This time, Chef Luna is eyeing a new location to the intersection of Sylvan Road and Dill Avenue in neighboring Capitol View. You can view the flyer for this venture here. He is hosting two meetings February 22nd from 12pm-2pm and from 6pm-8pm to talk to local residents about what they want out of their neighborhood businesses.
We need to do everything we can to support this venture in Capitol View, as hopefully this interest in Southwest Atlanta will carry over into Adair Park. Not to mention it is just a few blocks from our southern end. Please attend if you can and bring some neighbors to support Chef Luna and give him feedback about what we want to see business and restaurant wise in our local area!
It’s that time again! If you are in the need for some furniture, knick-knacks or other types of antiques, check out the auction held the 2nd Friday of every month at 556 Tift Street. February’s auction is this Friday at 7pm. Food and drinks are provided, 13% buyer’s premium, APD officer on duty for parking and security, and lots of great items up for auction! Auction website is here. There were about 15 Adair Park neighbors present in January and we always have a good time! Items purchased include a buffet, a wardrobe, a persian rug, a chandelier and some artwork. This auction gets a lot of love from Adair Park!
The winter storm watch has passed, and its time to get back into the business at hand. Please join us for the Adair Park Today meeting at the Stewart Avenue Methodist Church. We get there around 6:30pm to chat with neighbors, and the meeting is from 7pm-8pm. Bring a neighbor! Dues for the year are only $12.
State Rep Kathy Ashe will be the featured speaker. We will also hear from representatives from the Atlanta Police Department, the Community Prosecutor, City Council and other organizations. We hope to see you there!
If you have not checked out the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, you really need to! It is just across Metropolitan from Adair Park, and is an absolutely beautiful facility. They have a workout area with many machines, an indoor running track, a lounge with games, indoor basketball court, classes, activies, nursery and much more.
This Saturday, and all next week is the perfect time to visit. They will feature free workshops, classes, activities, presentations and resource information about their services.
Fees to join are $10 per month for an individual and $20 per month for a household with a 3 month minimum term. Check out their website at http://kroccenteratlanta.org/ or visit their Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/KrocCenter to get more information.
