Come hear from potential developers as they share their ideas for redeveloping 352 University Avenue! Two development teams plan to submit proposals to the Casey Foundation to become the master developer for this industrial site.
This session, which will include presentations and time for discussion, is an opportunity for community members to interact with and provide feedback to the developers on their concepts for the site.
The 6th annual Decatur Old House Fair is coming up on Saturday, Feb. 8th from 9am-4pm at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in downtown Decatur. This event is aimed at homeowners of older homes and offers information and resources to help homeowners maintain and enhance their historic buildings. They offer talks on everything from repairing plaster and chimneys to financing renovations and aging in place. Attendees can also meet with contractors to ask questions and make contacts. Are you aware of the multiple opportunities for down payment assistance in the city of Atlanta? Here are just a few:
Cleta Winslow, our City Councilperson, Invest Atlanta and developer Jerome Russell will sponsor a series of housing and down-payment workshops and bus tours to help potential home buyers find available homes in Atlanta. The first workshop and tour will take place on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Participants are asked to meet at Atlanta City Hall, 55 Trinity Avenue SW, in the City Council Chambers on the second floor at 8:30 a.m. Registration is required. Residents can call (404) 330-6047 to register.
Wells Fargo has started a program called “NeighborhoodLIFT”. The event has already happened in Atlanta, but the money is still out there to be used.
Last, there is downpayment assistance through the Beltline’s Affordable Housing program. This affects houses in the Beltline Tax Allocation District, which covers some houses along Allene Ave and other areas in Adair Park.
Some of these programs can be used in conjunction. Do some online research, there are many opportunities out there!
The Beltline Team is putting on their next Committed to Communities Southwest Atlanta open house event on November 13th. If you missed the last one, many homes in Adair Park was featured and it resulted in a sale and new neighbor on Pearce Street! This event will begin at 9am at 1534 Beatie Avenue in Capitol View just up the road from Perkerson Park. There will be over a dozen homes open until 12pm, then everyone will convene in Perkerson Park near the intersection of Beatie Avenue and Decker Avenue for a neighborhood BBQ and picnic.
