Special thank you to the following folks for making this playground happen:

  • Becky O’Mara, Justin Vogel, Jaqai Mickelson, Melissa Kruse & Elise Blasingame – our committee of neighbors who worked diligently to raise the needed funds, choose our fabulous new equipment, and engage neighbors throughout the process.
  • Alyssa Thys – our neighbor and incredible Events Chair who not only runs Porches and Pies, but also lends her expertise and time to making all of our playground events successful!
  • Lindsey Trinkle – our neighbor and a talented designer who made our beautiful fundraising website.
  • Kayla Altland, our partner at Park Pride who has been incredibly supportive and engaged throughout this process. A truly collaborative funder who we greatly appreciate for believing in our project!
  • Aaron Weiner at the Department of Parks & Recreation who truly does the job of at least ten people and has been a consistent friend of greenspaces and parks in our communities.
  • Michael Hinson at Playground Creations (and Stephanie and Brandon – our wonderful installers) for their high level of professionalism throughout the process and genuine dedication to making safe and fun spaces for our children (and adults!) to play.
  • Ken & Jeannette at La Bodega – not only for sponsoring, but for showing up and feeding us delicious, delicious pupusa snacks!
  • And of course, our amazing funders and sponsors for making this project a reality. We could not have done this without you.

We hope you will stay engaged in our park efforts, especially as we continue our efforts to complete the Muscogee Park at Brookline Triangle Project. If you would like more information about that project or how you can lend support, please reach out:

Please join us for a short work session in Muscogee Park at Brookline Triangle on Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 4:30PM – 6:00PM as we finish up the sidewalk stenciling project! After the work session, please join Park Pride as they host a Greenspace Gathering in Muscogee Park starting at 6PM with refreshments and a chance to learn more about the project! See registration information for that event below.

Greenspace Gatherings are a chance to meet with clusters of Friends Groups in different parks across the metro area for networking and skills sharing.

“This month, we’ll meet in Muscogee Park at Brookline Triangle with Adair Park Today, who will share about the renovation and renaming of this park in collaboration with the Muscogee Nation Office of Historic and Cultural Preservation. The new design incorporates important symbols from Muscogee tradition to honor both the history of the Nation and its modern culture.”

Proposed Mural: Adair Park 2 Halfcourt

Thanks to our friends at SCAD Serve and Art in the Paint, we have the opportunity to get a second court resurfaced and covered in a mural in Adair Park 2. This time, SCAD Serve has worked with their alum and our neighbor, Joe Veazey, to create a playful and energetic work of art for the uncovered half-court in Adair Park 2. Please see the feedback link and proposed design below. The design will be voted on at the next APT meeting (September 6) where this feedback will be shared.

“Our SCAD POP design captures the excitement and energy of the game through vivid colors and sinuous trails of lines. This colorway offers a sense of whimsy and reflects the Adair Park community’s positivity and exuberance. The intertwined arms and legs bring a playful surrealist element into the design and encourages viewers to be creative and open-minded, even when playing basketball.” — Joe Veazey (B.F.A., graphic design, 2009), Founder of Creative Library

Muscogee Park at Brookline Triangle: Community Workdays

Please join us as we install our flower beds, steps, educational signage and finish installing our park! This is the first City of Atlanta park that will serve as a community gathering space focused on learning about the Muscogee Nation who are the original stewards of the land upon which Atlanta was built. Join us for learning and some outdoor volunteer work! The workdays will take place on Friday, August 19th and Saturday, September 3rd both from 9AM – 11AM. FYI: We have a big group on the 19th, but still need more volunteers for the 3rd.

**You must pre-register and sign the waiver to join these workdays**
